Explore the Benefits of Cupping

Explore the Benefits of this Ancient Chinese MedicineTherapy

Some of you may have noticed or heard about Cupping Therapy recently with Olympic Swimmer, Michael Phelps. Cupping is wonderful technique that can improve your health and provide a number of benefits. Cupping is often combined with Acupuncture and can be even more beneficial when the two are used together.

Cupping uses suction to pull tissue and muscles upward. It is an ancient treatment that has modernized a bit over time.By placing glass jars on the skin, and vacuuming the air out of the cup the skin is drawn up into the cup.

Benefits:

  • Increased Circulation
  • Stimulate Fresh Blood Flow
  • Pain Relief
  • Detoxification

Does it hurt?

No. There is a feeling of tightening in the area as the air is removed from the cup. Often, described as soothing and relaxing similar to a massage. The cups may be moved around or left in place based on your individual needs. Every treatment is individualized for the person and the day. Often cupping is used on the back and shoulders, but works work well on other areas of the body as well.

Cupping usually causes the skin to turn red or purple, especially if that area has been injured or carries energetic blockages. This discoloration can last for a weekand sometimes longer. These areas are rarely painful. Once your skin is back to its usual color another treatment can be provided until your issue is resolved.

If you are looking to relieve stress, allergies, pain, fatigue, colds, back pain, flu, anxiety, red itchy skin conditions, and muscle aches, ask a licensed Acupuncturist about Cupping.
