Health-Focused Biological Dentist
Dr. Apoorva J. Shah, DDS graduated from Columbia University, with a dual-degree DDS/MA in Science and Dental Education.
His journey into dentistry started as a 14-year-old determined to fix his own orthodontic emergency while on vacation. After working as an orthodontic laboratory assistant for four years in high school, as an undergraduate at the University of Pennsylvania, he continued to shadow a range of dentists and specialists, visit dental clinics, and participate in a global medical and dental brigade to Nicaragua. Thereafter, he was inspired by the medical curriculum and spent a majority of his spare time during his third year in the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Department, conducting many extractions and incision-and-drainage procedures, as well as completing intensive surgical externships and selectives. Furthermore, he obtained significant exposure in treating pediatric patients, as well as assisted with complex implant and periodontal surgeries. He has also attended multiple research and continuing education conferences and seminars in aesthetics, surgery, periodontics, facial plastics, and oral pathology. He has become increasingly knowledgeable about the Mouth & Body Connection and is excited to offer holistic options to his patients.
Dr. Shah has held various leadership roles in dental, collegiate, and research organizations, as well as demonstrated continued commitment to tutoring, mentorship, and community service. Additionally, his exposure to stem cell research and consequent presentations has allowed him to investigate and push the boundaries of regenerative dental medicine, earning him the prestigious Class Award for Excellence in Research upon graduation.
Since graduating, Apoorva has joined the Academy of General Dentistry’s Continuing Education MasterTrack. With hobbies ranging from photography and video production to traveling and hiking, to dance and volleyball, to spicy food and music, he is a personable, passionate, and diligent dentist that strives for perfection and satisfaction in everything he does.
