One of the things that make a place like Groton Wellness Dental Spa so different from conventional dental offices is our special attention to the comfort and relaxation of our patients.
In addition to the spa atmosphere we have created in our office, we also offer practical comfort solutions for every dental treatment so that even the most in-depth procedure is as comfortable as possible.
Topical anesthetics relieve pain and tenderness by blocking the sensory nerve endings in the skin. We use topical anesthetics to numb the site of an injection prior to an injection being administered so that you won’t feel a thing! Topical anesthetics may also be used to soothe pain or irritation from a sore in the mouth.
Injectable local anesthetics provide pain relief and “numb” the area being treated so that you don’t feel any sensation whatsoever. This gives you complete comfort as your dental treatment is being performed. The preferred anesthetic is preservative-free and epinephrine-free; however, epinephrine is available if needed. Input from our patients is always encouraged to insure profound anesthesia and complete patient comfort.
Oral Conscious Sedation
If you’ve been avoiding the dentist for too long because of anxiety, Oral Conscious Sedation may be for you! Safe, economical, and convenient, oral conscious sedation can deliver a deeper relaxation state than nitrous oxide (laughing gas) with the added benefit of mild amnesia. Generally, if there is any discomfort at all after a dental procedure, herbal, homeopathic, or over-the-counter analgesics such as aspirin or non-aspirin pain relievers are all that is needed. In exceptional circumstances, a prescription pain reliever may be needed and can be prescribed.
