Dr. Hand has been practicing Naturopathic Medicine for over 20 years. He has studied extensively in functional medicine, herbal medicine, nutrition, physical medicine (craniosacral therapy, Bowen Technique) and colon hydrotherapy. He diagnoses and treats a wide range of medical conditions and orders necessary traditional and specialty lab tests. He specializes in counseling patients, and helps them to find the root of their medical concerns and to see new perspectives that may profoundly improve their lives. He has completed all the coursework and is a candidate for certification with the Institute of Functional Medicine (IFM); he intends to get his certificate within the next year.

As a good listener, Dr. Hand is caring and compassionate and he supports patients of all ages from infants to the elderly. Dr. Hand helped to start the Association for the Advancement of Restorative Medicine (AARM) about 20 years ago, and currently serves as the Continuing Medical Education Director. AARM offers integrative medical conferences which train healthcare providers of all types in effective practical treatments based on cutting-edge research.

Dr. Hand has always had an interest in medicine as early as age 3, he knew he wanted to be a doctor. In fact, so much so, his nickname became “Dr. D”. Later, for his undergraduate education, he completed a double major in Physics and Communication – Film. Upon graduation, one of his professors handed him a brochure to Bastyr University (a naturopathic medical school), that led him to become a Naturopathic Doctor.

Dr. Hand considers himself to be a healer. When he does his hands-on therapy, his hands always become warm. Some patients have commented they think his hands were heating pads. Dr. Hand feels blessed that he can heal people with his hands. Dr. Hand’s current goal is to reverse the trend of obesity and addiction in the United States, which he considers possible and worth striving for.

Dr. Hand serves on the scientific advisory board for the Association for the Advancement of Restorative Medicine, whose mission is to provide cross-disciplinary medical education on treating hormone system disorders and other chronic diseases with herbs, nutrition, and hormones. He has helped to run its annual medical conference since it began over 15 years ago. The conference’s focus is on teaching doctors effective tools based on sound scientific research. Dr. Hand has conducted research on diabetes and herbal medicine, and in 2017 had a journal article published about iodine supplements.
