Health-Focused General Dentist
Dr. Allan (Al) McQuarrie graduated from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in 2020, where he received the Dr. and Mrs. Albert J. Kazis Endowed Prize Fund in Crown and Bridge Award for excellence in the field of fixed prosthodontics. He served as a teaching assistant in the fixed prosthodontics course and in the clinical lab helping other students develop their skills as dental clinicians. While at Tufts, Dr. Al developed a strong sense of commitment to providing treatment to underserved populations. He participated in an externship program on a Navajo reservation in Arizona and in a Global Service trip to the isolated hills of Granja Porcon, Peru, where he provided much needed dental care and oral health education to underprivileged communities.
Since his time at Tufts, Dr. Al completed an advanced education in general dentistry residency in Buffalo, NY, where he received higher training in surgical and restorative dentistry before moving to Southern California and working in beautiful Carlsbad and north county San Diego. While in practice, Dr. Al saw first-hand how important the connection between whole-body health and oral health truly is, and it has been his goals to explore those connections, pursue truth and share his experience with his patients to allow their bodies to heal properly and function the way they were intended. It has been this research that led Dr. Al to join the Groton Wellness team and help his patients achieve a higher quality of life.
Dr. Al is originally from Salem, NH, where he grew up on Canobie Lake and is the oldest of three brothers. In college, he enjoyed playing four years of baseball as a Hawk at Saint Anselm College with all his former teammates. Other than his pursuits in dentistry, Dr. Al loves to spend his free time golfing, traveling, fishing, kayaking, and skiing. Since moving back home to the East Coast, Dr. Al likes to get his hands in the dirt in the garden on the weekends to grow some food and learn the arts of self-sustainability.
