Bio-Identical Hormones

Hormones decline with aging, menopause, stress, disease, medication use, or trauma, resulting in one of the major reasons for our physical and mental deterioration. As hormones decline, the accelerated aging process begins. Hormones are beneficial at any age, but the best, long-term, protective benefits are achieved if hormones are supplemented when loss begins, usually in our 40’s.

Bio-identical (natural) hormones are derived from natural plant sources and areidentical to the hormones that the body produces for itself. If hormones need to be boosted to improve a person’s overall health and wellbeing, it is safer and healthier to use hormones that the body recognized as its own, rather than hormones from horses, imbalanced version or overly potent synthetic versions, which are hormones used in most pharmaceutical preparations.

What do bio-identical hormones treat?

Bio-identical hormone balance may be helpful in treating hot flashes, symptoms of menopause in women or andropause (age-related decrease in testosterone) in men, erectile dysfunction, low libido, fatigue, insomnia, migraines, PMS, infertility, irritability, and skin problems, among others.

What hormones are used?

The bio-identical hormones most commonly used are estrogen, progesterone, testosterone, DHEA, and thyroid hormone. Doses are maintained as low as possible, with the goal being to find and reestablish the body’s natural hormonal balance, not overload it with a particular supplemental hormone.

There are a number of ways hormones are thrown off balance:

  • Stress
  • Poor Diet
